The Best Gyms in Vienna

March 26, 2026

I've trained in a lot of gyms across Vienna. Some were forgettable. A few were genuinely good. And one, I'd argue, is in a category of its own. If you're looking for a place to train in this city, whether you've just moved here or you're finally done with your overpriced chain membership, this is my honest shortlist.

Das Gym

There's no way around it: Das Gym is the best gym in Vienna. It might be the best gym I've trained in, full stop.

Also known as "Intelligent Strength," this place was built by people who actually lift. You notice it the moment you walk in. The equipment selection is serious, the layout makes sense, and there's a culture on the floor that's hard to describe but immediately obvious. People are there to train. Not to sit on a leg press scrolling Instagram, not to do bicep curls in the squat rack. To train.

The strength training equipment is world-class. Specialty bars, competition benches, platforms, machines that were clearly chosen by someone who knows what they're doing. It's not trying to be everything to everyone, and that's precisely what makes it great. If you care about getting stronger, this is where you go.

Malu Sportsclub

Malu Sportsclub is a different proposition entirely. This is Vienna's high-end option, and it delivers on that promise without the stuffiness you might expect.

Located right in the 1st district, it's a premium club with the kind of finish you'd associate with a boutique hotel. The equipment is top-tier, the space is beautifully designed, and it's never overcrowded (the membership price takes care of that). If your training priorities include aesthetics, comfort, and a certain calm that budget gyms simply can't offer, Malu is worth a look.

It's not a hardcore powerlifting den. It doesn't pretend to be. But for well-rounded training in a genuinely pleasant environment, it's one of the best in the city.

FitInn Schwedenplatz

I know what you're thinking. FitInn is a budget chain. And you're right, it is. But the FitInn Schwedenplatz location is a pleasant exception to whatever assumptions that brings up.

The weight training section sits in the main area of the gym under a glass roof, which means you're training in natural daylight. In a city where most gyms feel like bunkers, this is a genuinely underrated feature. There's something about lifting in actual light that changes the experience. It sounds trivial until you've spent a winter training in a windowless basement.

The equipment is solid for the price point, and the location is about as central as it gets. If you want a no-nonsense gym that doesn't cost a fortune and doesn't feel like one either, this is it.

Trainer's Gym

Trainer's Gym is a bit different from the others on this list because it's not a public gym. It's a private studio built specifically for personal trainers and their clients. You won't find a reception desk selling day passes here.

I train my clients at Trainer's Gym, and it's ideal for that purpose: well-equipped, never crowded, and designed for focused one-on-one sessions without the distractions of a commercial floor.

If you're based in Vienna and considering personal training, I'd love to have a conversation about your goals. I offer a free intro call, no strings attached. You can reach me through StrengthLab Vienna to get started.

Address: Margaretenstrasse 87, 1050 Wien (5th district, Margareten)

That's my list. Vienna has plenty of gyms, but these are the ones I'd actually recommend. Each serves a different need, a different budget, a different training philosophy. The common thread is that they all take what they do seriously. In a city with no shortage of mediocre options, that counts for a lot.
